Elijah Badua

Elijah Badua is a classically trained instrumentalist & experimental musician known for his ambience driven performances, that merge future thinking soundscapes and medieval modal music into boundary dissolving atmospheres. Raised primarily in Oakland, California, he calls Los Angeles home, performing notably at the US Bank Tower and Art Basel Miami with the 3D arts audio-visual collective 7seers Studio, Leaving Record’s daytime event series Listen to Music Outside in the Daylight Under a Tree and Chun You 春游 Festival in Chengdu at the start of his south by southwest China tour alongside Colloboh & TP Dutchkiss.

A lifelong multi-instrumentalist, his sound is distinguished by the singing overtones of the Yaylı Tanbur, a microtonal bowed lute played in Classical Turkish music. Over a decade of travels have led him to study music religiously from Rajasthan to Istanbul, drawing rhythms and melodic voicings from music across centuries to create timeless harmony textured in-between electric hymns.
